Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
In plain English first
We don't collect personal data. We don't ask for your email. We don't run accounts, logins, or sign-up forms. You can use every tool, read every guide, and browse the entire site without giving us any information about yourself.
This policy explains what we do and don't do.
1. Who we are
SiteKiln is a trading name of Kiln Network Ltd (Company No. 17324534).
2. What data we collect
If you just read the site (no account)
We do not collect personal data.
- We do not ask for your name, email, address, phone number, or any other personal information.
- We do not run sign-up forms, login systems, or user accounts.
- We do not use third-party tracking pixels, Facebook Pixel, Google Ads remarketing, or any programmatic ad network that follows you around the internet.
We do use basic, privacy-friendly analytics to understand which pages are popular and how people use the site. This is aggregated and anonymous, we cannot identify individual visitors. See our Cookie Policy for details.
If you contact us
- Whatever you send us, name, email, message content, so we can reply. We delete these messages after 12 months unless there's an ongoing conversation.
If you're an advertiser or sponsor
- Business contact details provided during your inquiry or booking, used to manage the advertising relationship.
3. Browser storage (localStorage)
Some of our tools save your entries in your browser's localStorage so they're still there when you come back. This includes the Monthly Profit Tracker and the Quarterly Business Check-Up. Separately, a small set of preferences (saved guides, where you got to in a guide, notices you have closed, your state preference) is kept between visits only if you accepted that on the banner shown on your first visit; decline and they are kept for the open tab only. The Cookie Policy lists exactly what falls into each group.
What you need to know:
- Your data is saved in your browser only. It is never sent to our servers.
- We cannot see, access or recover this data.
- Clearing your browser history, cache or site data will delete it.
- The data is not encrypted and is not backed up.
- If you switch to a different device or browser, your saved data will not follow you.
If you want to remove locally stored data without clearing your entire browser cache, you can do so in your browser's developer tools under Application > Local Storage.
4. Cookies
We use cookies on this site. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.
Short version:
- Essential cookies - needed to make the site work (security, preferences). These are always on.
- Analytics - we count page views with our own first-party script. It sets no cookies at all and stores nothing on your device, so there is no analytics cookie to accept or refuse. It also switches itself off if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
- We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, social media tracking pixels, or any cookie that follows you around the internet.
You choose on your first visit whether we may keep your preferences on this device between visits, and you can change that at any time with the Cookie settings button in the site footer.
5. Advertising - how it works on SiteKiln
Any ads you see on this site are not targeted based on your browsing history. We don't track what you do on other websites and use it to follow you around with ads.
Our advertising is contextual and industry-specific:
- Ads are relevant to the section you're reading, not to your personal browsing data.
- If you're reading about insurance, you might see an ad from an insurer. If you're reading about training, you might see a training provider. That's it.
We do not:
- Use programmatic ad networks (Google Ads, Meta Ads, etc.).
- Build advertising profiles based on your behavior.
- Share any of your data with advertisers.
- Let advertisers influence the content of our guides.
Sponsors and advertisers pay for placement on the site. They do not pay for access to your data. Editorial and advertising are kept completely separate.
6. How long we keep your data
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Analytics data | Aggregated and anonymised; raw data deleted after 26 months |
| Contact form messages | Deleted after 12 months unless there's an ongoing conversation |
| Advertiser/sponsor details | For the duration of the relationship plus 6 years (for tax/legal records) |
When we delete data, we delete it properly, not just archived somewhere you can't see.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access - ask us what data we hold about you.
- Correction - ask us to fix anything that's wrong.
- Deletion - ask us to delete your data (subject to any legal obligation to keep it, e.g. tax records).
- Objection - object to us processing your data for certain purposes.
- Portability - ask for a copy of your data in a standard format.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us. We'll respond within one month.
If you are a US resident (California CCPA/CPRA and similar state laws)
Because we do not collect, sell, or share personal information (see sections 2 to 5), there is very little for these rights to act on, but you still have them:
- Right to know what personal information we hold about you. For almost everyone who just reads the site, that is none.
- Right to delete any personal information we do hold (for example, a message you sent us).
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We also honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.
We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and we do not use it for targeted advertising. To exercise any right, contact us through the details on our About page. We will respond within 45 days.
8. How we keep data safe
- All data is stored on secure, encrypted servers.
- Access to any data is limited to the people who actually need it (which is very few).
- We review our data practices regularly and delete anything we no longer need.
9. Children
SiteKiln is aimed at adults working in the construction industry. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top will change when we do. If we make significant changes, we'll let you know via a notice on the site.
11. Contact
For any data protection questions, contact us through the details on our About page.
